Антон де Ком – один из главных позитивных персонажей в истории Суринама. Его деятельность как революционера тесно связана с историей голландской колонии. Авторы отмечают идеологическую борьбу вокруг его фигуры, в частности, попыткой представить его авантюристом или пацифистом. В действительности ведущей линией его жизни было привлечение внимания в Нидерландах к вопросам национально-освободительного движения в Суринаме. Антон де Ком заложил основы мирного сосуществования и сотрудничества различных этнорасовых групп Суринама, опередив своё время в рамках национально-освободительной борьбы данной страны Южной Америки.

Anton de Coma is one of the main positive characters in the history of Suriname. His activities as a revolutionary are closely related to the history of the Dutch colony. The authors note the ideological struggle around his figure, in particular an attempt to present him as an adventurer or pacifist. The leading line of his life was to draw attention to issues in the Netherlands the national liberation movement in Suriname. The paper concludes that Anton de Kom laid the foundations for peaceful coexistence and cooperation of various ethnic and racial groups of Suriname, ahead of his time in the framework of the national liberation struggle of this South American country.
