Внешняя политика США в отношении ФРГ претерпела трансформацию от курирования политики безопасности к партнёрству для усиления роли Берлина в Европе. При этом политика США в отношении Европы варьируется от необходимости занятия лидирующих позиций к отказу от финансирования вопросов безопасности Европы и делегированию их европейцам.

U.S. foreign policy toward the Federal Republic of Germany underwent a transformation from overseeing its security policy to a partnership aimed at enhancing Berlin’s role in Europe. Concurrently, U.S. policy toward Europe varies between the need to maintain leadership positions and a refusal to finance European security issues, delegating them to the European countries themselves.
