Features of democratic transit of Republic of South Africa: prerequisites, trajectory, prospects

Abstract

The article summarizes the main characteristics of South Africa’s democratic transit model based on secondary analysis of academic articles, reports of socio-political research centers, and the results of an empirical study. The author attempted to answer the following questions: what caused the democratic transit of South Africa; what democracy means for South Africans; why is the modernization process stalled at present and what are its prospects?
