The evolution of Spain’s foreign policy From relative independence to limited sovereignty

Abstract

In recent decades, Spain has lost a significant part of its foreign policy identity in an effort to follow the Western, American-centric mainstream. For many years Madrid has existed in the paradigm of a unipolar world based on certain rules, rejecting the concept of multipolarity, which more and more countries of the world are oriented towards. This has led to the fact that Spain, unlike in previous years, does not have its own position on key issues of world politics.
