Investments as a tool of influence: China’s policy in Laos and Nepal

https://doi.org/10.48137/2074-2975_2022_01_38

Abstract

Using the example of Laos and Nepal, the article analyzes Beijing’s policy in the Asia-Pacific region. The choice of incidents is determined by the level of economic development of the countries and the factor of geographic proximity. Laos and Nepal are some of the poorest countries in the region, but with a different resource base and development dynamics, which makes certain adjustments to Beijing’s plans. The analysis made it possible to identify the dialectics of Chinese influence technologies – the skillful use of economic methods to consolidate their presence in the countries of the world.
