Abstract

This article provides a comparative analysis of Russian and foreign NCOs in Central Asia. Europe and the United States focus on ideological and communication models of NCOs, as well as on the development of socio-economic, «need-based» models of relations with NCOs. Russian NCOs are focused on sociocultural models with a limited presence in the target group of compatriots. There are no niches occupied by NCOs for such tasks of Russia as promoting an objective perception of Russia in the world as a democratic state with a socially oriented economy and an independent foreign policy.

Abstract

The article examines the main trends in the development of Soviet society during the next stage of «perestroika» (1988–1990), associated with the realization of economic independence of state-owned enterprises and the abolition of the monopoly on foreign trade. This process was accompanied by the transit of the political system, the holding of the Congress of People’s Deputies and the registration of a legal political opposition here in the person of an Interregional Deputy Group. In the context of the liberalization of the USSR’s foreign policy, a change of political regime took place in the Eastern European socialist countries.

Abstract

The authors analyze the situation of the Serbian Krajina Army in the spring of 1995 and examine such aspects as staffing, funding, and problems in the troops. The paper describes Serbian Krajina’s military strategy. Based on the analysis of archival documents on the heavy armament of the SAK, the objectivity and feasibility of the military strategy is assessed.
