Abstract

The article uses the example of Scotland to give a scientific understanding of the socio-cultural aspects of the integration of ethno-religious minorities into European communities. It is shown that Scottish nationalism is inclusive and does not differ in Islamophobia, unlike English nationalism and British chauvinism. Anglo-Saxon policies of discrimination against national and religious minorities have led to a steady trend of expanding social and political alliance of Scottish nationalists with local Muslims. Scottish Muslims (especially young Muslims) striving for a multi-layered identity face social isolation and a sense of detachment from their community, leading to their radicalization.

Russian cultural diplomacy is by right one of the country’s foreign policy assets. The analysis of international exhibition events with Russian participation confirms the thesis that museums are capable of transmitting meaningful thoughts for Russia to foreign audiences, and work in the expert museum community creates preconditions for interaction in an extraordinary situation.
